About the COMPETITION

"Beyond the Cloud" is an inspiring art competition celebrating the creativity of children of all abilities! This event invites young artists to explore their imaginations and express themselves through various mediums. The theme encourages participants to reflect on dreams, possibilities, and the beauty of diverse expression. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, and all entries will be showcased in a vibrant exhibition at IMUR gallery, highlighting the talents of every participant.

Participants must be children and young adults from Jersey City Public Schools at age range: 14 to 21 years at the time of submission.

Artwork submitted can be produced in the classroom or at home. 

Each participant may submit one or two original artworks through their teacher.

After each participant submits their artwork to their teacher, the teacher must submit the artworks for the school’s competition. 

All submissions must include the Application Form attached to the back of the artwork, containing the participant's name, age, and a brief description of the piece.

All submissions must be received by 12 PM, February 12, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Artwork must align with the theme "Beyond the Cloud”: Just like clouds may temporarily hide the sun, our challenges can sometimes obscure our abilities. But remember, the sun—representing your strengths, talents, and possibilities—is always shining just beyond the clouds. This competition invites you to create artwork that reflects your understanding of this beautiful metaphor. How do you see the light of possibility shining through in your life?

Accepted mediums include any 2D visual art forms, such as painting, drawing, prints, photography, and mixed media.

All submitted artworks must be original and created solely by the participant.

Works that have been previously exhibited or published are not eligible.

Dimensions: Artwork must not exceed 12" x 18".

Display-Ready: Each piece must be appropriately prepared for display, such as being framed, matted, or mounted.

25 artworks will be selected and displayed at IMUR Gallery, 67 Greene St, Jersey City, NJ 07302, with an opening reception at 6 PM on March 19, 2025.

Winners will be announced at 5 PM on February 17, 2025, and prizes will be awarded at the exhibition opening.
